Internships within my Communication Design program are tasked with an internship provider guided project. To start this project, my internship mentors asked me to answer a series of questions. Upon the submission of my answers, I was assigned with the task of creating a package design to promote a fictitious brand of all natural skincare products. I came up with the idea of skincare products for all people with tattoos. The goal of my brand is to be an inclusive skincare line to a diverse audience of tattoo lovers.
I conceptualized the brand name For Life because tattoos are on our bodies for life. I developed the outside sleeve as an elegant, minimal, and approachable design. When the sleeve is lifted, it reveals a bottle with illustrations based on diverse tattoo body art styles in hopes of educating the consumer about tattooing as a cultural form of freedom of expression and individuality for all. The illustrations are influenced by a variety of body art styles to encourage inclusion within tattoo enthusiasts.
I feel that I have a personal success with this project with my interest in design and my passion for illustration being the driving force to create this cohesive and striking piece to extend my portfolio with package design experience. The refined and spared design of the sleeve with a peak of the illustration sets up a visual suspense so that the consumer is surprised and delighted when the bottle illustration is revealed.
