Poster to promote a benefit reading by the author and humorist David Sedaris. The poster was the first item produced in a suite of materials that included web banners, event signage, and a program. Proceeds from the event support scholarships for students at the California College of the Arts.
Approach
Mr Sedaris' most recent book is titled "Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls," so an owl became a natural substitute for him on the materials used to promote the event. I spent a lot of time looking for an owl that resembles Mr Sedaris. The typography fills the space for maximum impact.
