The cannabis retail market is being flooded with products and smoking apparatuses, but one of the biggest draws is portable vaporizers. O.penVAPE is the largest national cannabis brand in the United States, distributing its products in the states that have legalized cannabis sales (recreational and medical). Having found enormous success in its original vaporizer pen with pre-filled, CO2-extracted cartridges, O.penVAPE wanted to add another portable vaporizer to its product line, and needed sleek packaging for it.

This product, the go.pen, includes the vaporizer pen, a dabbing tool, atomizers, USB charger, and an instruction manual. The goal was to make O.penVAPE’s new portable vaporizer distinctly different from the competition while staying within O.penVAPE’s brand we had established. EBD designed a custom hard-sided box and band for the go.pen kit. Features include a magnetic closure, clear foil patterning, metallic foils, a plastic exterior band, and a matte suede finish. When paired with the instruction manual, also written and designed by EBD, the kit successfully reflects the voice, values and culture of O.penVAPE. The pen comes in seven different colors and two finishes, all of which were carefully selected and uniquely named for O.penVAPE.

Also, O.penVAPE is the only company in the market that offers a lifetime warranty, so EBD created a one-of-a-kind warranty “bug” to callout this exclusive product guarantee, which is now used on all their products. EBD also created a unique barcode shape to further set the go.pen apart from the competition and make it recognizable as O.penVAPE at a glance.

The client was a partner throughout the project, providing ideas and facilitating a prototype. Needless to say, O.penVAPE loved the finished product! EBD also designed t-shirts, lanyards, and a flyer and brochure for the go.pen brand. The launch materials and distinct packaging—coupled with a colorful, catchy and playful marketing campaign—has helped the go.pen quickly become a distinguished, in-demand product and a huge success for O.penVAPE.
