This is one of those rare cases of the artwork preceding the commission. Purely as a labor of love, Brooklyn-based artist Thomas Seltzer had previously created a series of art prints of jazz greats, done in a combination of pen & ink, dry brush and digital collage. The client happened upon them through social media and asked that they be repurposed for their events. Drawing inspiration from a variety of sources, including classic Blue Note album covers and the previous series of Jazzbop posters, Seltzer Studio reworked the prints and combined them with clean sans serif type to create memorable posters that tried to meld the spirit of jazz with the joy of dance.
