In 2015, Sandeman celebrated its 225th Anniversary. Their pioneering spirit in the wine business has been unprecedented, with a permanent attitude of innovation and creativity towards its products and the business itself. Always true to its History, Heritage and Legacy, Sandeman is now not only 225 years old, but also 225 years strong.When they called VOLTA to help them celebrate their anniversary, they asked us to develop a concept that truly explained the brand’s history and attitude for the past 225 years and at the same time showed the brand’s vision for the future.
VOLTA decided to create 6 stories, that together tell the story of Sandeman’s 225-year-old success and commitment to quality. The Sandeman 225th Anniversary Collection contains 6 bottles of Vintage Porto 2000 wine, numbered 1 to 6, emphasizing the collectible appeal. Each label was designed to best describe its story, as were the individual boxes and the collector’s box containing a book about the brand.VOLTA really wanted to improve Sandeman’s premium perception, showing that a very classic and conservative business such as Porto wine can work out of its comfort zone.
Revealed in November 2015 in the city of London, this collection seems to be a success, so far, both in orders as in global awareness. The 225th Anniversary Collection has received great critics in influent wine, drinks and packaging trends blogs and websites.The storytelling and unique bold colour packagings aim to attract new consumers that usually don’t consider Sandeman Porto Wine in their everyday routine.
