This poster originally began as a can wrap design. The client also wanted to use it as banners to enhance the decor of the taproom and beer hall.

While offering a variety of ales and porters on tap, Vestri IPA is one of their first beers available in regional stores. We’ve created unique illustrations and typographic logos for the brews, and Vestri is the second in the series.

According to Norse mythology, Vestri was one of four dwarves who held the dome of the heavens. Each of the four dwarves’ names corresponded to the cardinal directions—Vestri being west, as he supported the western sky. It is an inspired name for a West Coast-style IPA—kudos to the Asgard team for coming up with it. We felt the important thing in illustrating Vestri was to create a unique character image and avoid looking like John Rhys-Davies' Gimli in Lord of the Rings.

The overall identity program we've developed for Asgard is helping them to establish a very strong following. The client loves the Vestri design and illustration and is getting very positive feedback about it.
