This assignment was specific to the screen printing process to help us learn how to make a 3 color print. We prep the film work, shoot the silkscreens, mix the ink and print the image.

I am personally inspired by printed paper artifacts of the 1960s and 70s to create nostalgic yet fresh work. So, a screen printing project was a great avenue for my work to explore. In my image, I use a photo from my fathers photo album to create a halftone image. Then I gathered shapes that are reverent of the summers I spent as a little girl in Florida where plant life is very abundant. Together, the image is graphic, colorful and translated through the screen print.

The project was successful in that the image I created to be bold, based in shape and color and inspired by the sentiments of my parents old photo albums was really wonderfully supported by the punchy ink, nostalgic half-tone and process of silk screening.
