In this project, our assignment was to choose either a pre-made dieline of a box with a circular cutout, or a dieline with no cutouts (with the opportunity to create a unique one ourselves).
Approach
I decided on the latter option, designing a half-corner cutout to showcase the chalk markers inside as well as give a visual nod to a colorblock sunset. I traced tick marks on clocks to develop a detailed illustration to frame the copy on the lid of the box, in order to further allude to the word "Downtime".
Results
By referencing moments of pause and meditation in the packaging's copy, as well as designing all panels to have a modern look and feel, I was able to position my chalk brand in the category of a more mature audience, rather than just children.
