For this project, I was assigned to select a "family product" and conceptualize and execute an advertisement for the chosen product after constructing a creative brief.
All images used were not taken by me, but they were manipulated by me. (I added the makeup to the dog, and blurred and edited the background photo).
Approach
In regards to the approach, I wanted to tell a story through the ad. That's where the background photo comes into play, as the girls bouncing in a princess-themed room provide context for why the dog is wearing makeup. To create a sense of unexpectedness, the dog is featured wearing a mess of makeup, rather than mud. For the headline, I replaced the word "rough" with "ruff" which ties back to the main subject being a dog.
Results
Overall, I feel like this is an effective ad. It pushed me to figure out how to tell a story through visual means. Due to the imagery of the direct eye contact with the dog, it is successful at catching readers' eyes.
