Series, I ran across an article highlighting pianist Thelonious Monk’s advice to fellow musicians. As a designer and bassist, I’d already discovered the similarities between composing music and graphic composition. Qualities like taste, rhythm, and restraint are vital to both
art forms. It wasn’t until I’d found this list from Monk, that I fully realized the possibility of an poster series based on the advice of musicians and artists. Though the majority of the phrases came from Monk, If You Don’t Like It came from a quote at Make Your Own Life, an artists of Cologne retrospective in Seattle.
