PowWow is a non profit organization that brings artists to places that otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity for large-scale murals. The artwork was created in the Hispanic area of Worcester which has previously been a disadvantaged and underprivileged neighbourhood, to add a splash of colour to an otherwise run down part of town.
Approach
After discussing ideas with a few locals for the messaging, we decided to use the words "Por Siempre' translating to Forever, as a reminder to always be proud of where you are from, your ethnicity and your fellow neighbours.
Results
As this was an area which doesn't have much art there was an overwhelming response from the local to come and take pictures. I never felt so much warmth and appreciation from a community before as I did painting this project. It has now inspired other artists to paint in this area transforming it one mural at a time.
