Lorenc+Yoo Design was brought in to design canopies for a 15-year-old building designed by Philip Johnson in downtown Atlanta. The building appeared to have a presence of a Cathedral with little or no identification as to who was inside. LYD was commissioned to design a people- scaled series of canopies that allow for building identification as well as that of its major anchors. LYD studied the scale, the color and the classical design tied to the powerful building architecture. Context was an important part of this design. One major central canopy 33" wide x 12" deep x 5" high, one restaurant canopy for Il Molino 17” wide x 8" deep x 4 high on the left side and one amenity directory sign 17" wide 4" deep x 9” high on the left. The 191 tower is a 55-story corporate office building in downtown Atlanta it is currently the regional headquarters for Deloitte.
