We set out to create an experience to build brand equity with our customers in a very tactile way. Something that (hopefully) brings joy or surprises them, without necessarily trying to upsell them on a product feature.
Leaning into our support of small businesses, we decided to create a mini-game suite that revolved around the bodega / corner store - a retailer that’s essential to a neighborhood or local community. Rather than focusing on the store owner, the protagonist is a cat living in the shop furtively helping out behind the scenes. Our first game of the series is called “All’s Well That Vends Well”. You play as the cat trying to fix up a vending machine on the fritz. Avoid its fiery snacks, collect some coins, and maybe get yourself something nice to wear.
In the first few weeks of launching Meow Mart the game went live on awwwards, made the front page of muz.li, earned site of the day on The FWA and received 28,000 visitors.
