This series poster was designed to promote Illustration exhibition, hosted in Seoul every year. This poster, “Illustration Festa 014,” was created to promote the exhibition’s 2014 event, participated by fifty illustrators. “Illustration 015” was made for the next year’s event, that had 60 illustrators, 15 graphic designers and 5 performance artists exhibiting their works.
--“Illustration Festa 015”: This poster, promoting an event that was made possible by 60 illustrators, 15 graphic designers and 5 performance artists, was made in two versions, in Korean and English. The English version used a typeface with a drawing feel to it to spell out the words “Illustration Fest 015.” In the same way, the Korean version wrote out the translated version of the words. This drawing style typeface was expressed as an illustration on the face of the poster, using blue to add impact.
--“Illustration festa 014”: This is a promotional event for an exhibition that 51 illustrators participated in 2014. This poster used a semi-transparent tracing paper named “sheep skin” in order to express design on both sides. Using the transparency of the front and back of the paper, the poster was designed so that the both sides can interact with each other. The front page was designed by using the exhibition information and the names of the 51 participating artists. The backside expressed picture boxes in square frames in graphic motifs. The number of picture boxes are exactly 51, which is the number of the participating artists, and each box is located exactly where the name of the participating artist is on the front side. The relative dimension of the picture box is the same as those of the actual works submitted by the artists. Each picture box is given a number, and the name of the artist and work information were written at the bottom of the poster. Using the characteristics of semi-transparent paper called “sheep skin,” the poster was designed to have the front and the back page interact with each other.
