Messenger RNA vaccines work very differently than previous vaccines, which used actual bits from the virus to build immunity. Instead, messenger RNA tells and guides your cells to create certain proteins that are effective in building immunity. We wanted to convey the concept of the RNA acting as a multi-tool that quickly goes to work and applies itself in the building of these proteins. We first shot the twisting red strand and then shot each piece of the tool individually to compose the final image. After multiple studies in light and shadow, we pieced together a convincing image that highlighted the quick and effective work of this new vaccine.
