This poster was my contribution to the "When You Think of Home" project.
When You Think of Home is a community of artists determined to help. They do this through the sale of art that directly benefits Acres of Love, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing care, a family, and forever homes to orphans in South Africa. Artists were asked to create a poster that reflected the place they think of as home.
I tried to capture the density, vertigo, and visual complexity of Manhattan. It is an overwhelming, wonderful, busy, noisy place and my art attempted to reflect those qualities. I was not born there but lived there for much of my life and still think of it as home.
Whenever you create a piece of art for a project that a large group of incredibly talented designers are also contributing to, you always run the risk of getting lost in all the great work that was produced but I received lots of positive comments from both the project creators, peers, and colleagues.
