El Mirage dry lake bed is in the Mojave Desert and has been hosting land speed racing for more than half a century. I set out to document the location, people and machines that make this phenomenon so unique.
Approach
I had a VIP media pass that gave me access to the pits where I had a distinctive view of the action around me. This allowed me to gain a perspective that wasn't available to the spectators.
Results
After two days of shooting in the desert I got to meet some incredible people and be a part of a truly remarkable experience that is run mostly by volunteers. It definitely is a labour of love to organize these huge land speed events.
