Letter play /:- ) is an interactive alphabet book, for young kids who are just starting to learn about letters, their forms, and how to write them.
The purpose of this book is to show kids how they can use letters not just as an informational tool but more as an image itself. To show how they can build their own letters, play with their shapes, and learn about them through the creative process which is reflected throughout the whole book is the main goal of this project.

With this book, I want to combine experimental publishing with bold color combinations and simplicity which are also one of the things that I want to bring to commercial children's book publishing and to show the importance of print in children's literature as well.
The book will contain different variations of designed letters, because it is, after all, an experimental book. In order to achieve the playful look of the book, I also had to create a physical mock-up of the book after the finished digital work. Here it will become more clear how the materials work together and how the interactive part of the letters actually works. This is very helpful, as it makes it easier to correct or adjust certain components that don't work well enough and it will also help me to understand how different materials work together and what are the right solutions for it.
With the preparation of the different ways of using letters, a lot of research was also done on different printing methods, possible ways of implementation, and, of course, the conceptual ideas that can be realized for the book.

The audience responded very well, and I especially got good feedback from the teaching professionals. As it is a unique book with a playful and interactive part, children, as the main users, were very enthusiastic about the book. Thanks to the various active tasks which are in the book, children also got to know the characteristics and forms of the individual letters and learned a lot through them, which is after all the main purpose of this book.
