“XO sauce”was born in Hong Kong in 1980’s. Being as a top seasoning among sauces, it is made from specially selected ham, large dried scallops and authentic dried sea shrimps through several procedures. As time goes on, the ingredients of the sauce change as well. However, a constant critical standard to distinguish XO sauce from others is whether the ingredients include dried scallops or not.
Dried scallops can enhance the sea food flavor of the sauce. Although born in Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient, the name of XO sauce is quite a western style. Considering the two cultural backgrounds, we draw some visual elements symbolizing the sea and western culture within the pattern of a shell to illustrate its product characters.
