Given the title of the newsletter, students were assigned to develop the visual and contextual identity of the publication. Fitting within the parameters of typical newsletters, students were encouraged to explore concept and differing approaches of how newsletters display information.
With most newsletters being primarily text information heavy, the approach for Acquired Taste attempted to reinvent how information is presented alongside imagery in a manner that aligns with the subject matter. This specific issue of Acquired Taste, which serves as a food publication with monthly subscriptions, focuses of juice culture. Integrating photography and illustration, this newsletter attempts to take a more visual approach to how information is perceived without compromising the verbal content.
Acquired Taste reinvents what typical newsletters look like and focuses on visuals that do not necessarily compromise content. The implementation of interacting photography and illustration drives the compositional layouts of the spreads that correlates with the content of the articles.
