2014 marked the 27th anniversary of the Images Festival, the largest festival in North America for experimental motion-based art. The studio was engaged to design all of the marketing collateral, including program guide, posters, tote-bags, t-shirts, passes and trailer.
The classic art house film Wings of Desire served as our initial inspiration. Once we developed the concept, we proceeded to photograph wings of birds native to Ontario. The specimens were provided by the Ornithology Department at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. The bisecting line alludes to the editing process of cutting and splicing inherent in the film making process.
The striking visual platform we developed was lauded by both the client and audience. Preliminary feedback from sponsors suggests that there will be an increased demand for ad space in next year’s program guide, which will ultimately result in more revenue for the festival.
