The assignment was to create a city logo the represented the culture and people of the town. Then, we were to take that logo and create a cohesive branding project in the industry of our choosing.
The concept was developed through a process of research and sketching. I chose a restaurant as a motivation for customers to go back out and get together as the pandemic begins to fade. With that, I wanted to use elements that felt connected, so I created knots as graphical elements to give a sense of unity throughout the project. Halifax's Atlantic shores inspired the minimal blue and white color palette, with a touch of barn red to reference the city's features.
The project was successful in that it invoked the intended feeling of connectivity from my feedback. I received a strong response from my instructor and classmates, as well as potential employers when I presented in interviews.
