The assignment was to introduce the Oculus Gear VR and a new paradigm of mobile virtual reality to the world. In doing so, we aimed to incite imagination and ultimately encourage people to check out virtual reality for themselves, as you really do need to see it to believe it.
When introducing a new paradigm like mobile virtual reality, we felt it was best to let people use their imaginations—allow people to create their own sense of wonder and give them the ability to transport themselves into other worlds, no matter where they sit. We did this by juxtaposing the ordinary with the extraordinary and letting the viewer do the rest. The project took the form of digital videos that were part of a larger campaign to launch the Gear VR.
The campaign was a massive success as we introduced the Gear VR. It is now the most popular mobile VR headset on the market and its partnership with Oculus, a leader in the space, has made it the place to go for mobile VR experiences of all kinds.
