Gin from the very beginning was about far off places. It was the Trade Route that made Gin possible. Exotic spices from distant lands coming to your shores to create a drink that transports you. The Trade Route Collection, by the Gin Foundry, follows the historical waterways of the sea to create distinctive Gins that embody specific Trade Routes. Their mission is to travel the world sourcing the best botanicals from specific areas around the globe and invite its customers to come along on the journey. The packaging needed to be exotic and evocative, capturing the exotic trade routes of while remaining flexible enough to customize for each of the regional Gin flavor profiles. The Europa is the first of the series to launch.

The custom bottle was inspired by old apothecary bottles and medicinal Gins of the time period. The design puts a modern twist on historic map and period typography. We leveraged a Mediterranean blue for the Europa Gin and an etching of a sea monster that were often depicted on the historic maps of the trade routes. The printing is textural with embossing and foil over stamping to put the finishing touch on the rich layered look of the package.

The product has just launched, but initial orders were doubled at the time of delivery by the clients main buyer based purely on the expectations of increased demand and sales of the product even before it hit shelves.
