This poster was commissioned by Zeitgeist Films and Kino Lorber to promote the release of the documentary Against The Current. The film is about the exploits of Veiga Grétarsdóttir, who is the first person to kayak around Iceland against the current; the second most difficult journey of her life after her gender transition. The challenge was to convey this admirable woman's life and accomplishments without lapsing into cliché, along with the wonderful Icelandic landscape.

My poster prominently showcases Veiga, who's a colorful and uplifting character. Her journey is portrayed both literally and metaphorically. The tilt of the scene and her shadow convey her struggles as she navigates both her kayak and identity journeys, and most importantly, her ability to move past them. The color scheme is a subtle hint at the transgender flag.

There was a positive response from the client and audience alike to this poster. It has been displayed again during pride month by The Museum of Fine Arts of Houston.
