To promote its 43rd season, The Black Rep theatre of St. Louis wanted to celebrate its black identity in a way that would draw in a fresh, young audience.
Approach
We brought The Black Rep’s signature soul to life in a poster series featuring striking character portraitures against traditional African Ankara wax patterns. The posters were scannable, linking to video performances that would entice viewers to attend.
Results
The 43-year-old non-profit theater was thrilled to re-embrace its African identity in a way that could live on long beyond Season 43. It also saw a healthy rise in ticket sales.
