It is the second time that Daejeon Museum of Art has organized the biennial international art festival project Daejeon, promoting collaboration between art and science. This interdisciplinary exhibition addresses diverse critical issues in humanities and natural science in relation to brain science, and presents inspiring artworks based on scientific knowledge. DMA asked poster design and exhibition identity for the biennial international art festival project Daejeon.

To be seen as the process of studying the brain, we wanted it to show as a progressive images more than just an image. Thus, We formed the shape of the brain by using the lines of letters, the exhibition title ‘the brain’. And also, decomposed letters were deployed in three- dimensional space to indicate atypical form and Non-morphological elements.

We choose title layout by center-justify because the human brain activities are mainly divided into left and right brain. and then, The main graphic on the poster indicates brain activities which could not define fixed form. Therefore, We had to design flexible graphic identity of the exhibition. We set up the very simple rule to express the brain activities Although the position of title ‘The Brain’ i is not changed, the silhouette of main image, color, and type of lines can be continuously modified.
