The development of a compelling visual design system seeks to unify a system's differing components yet instill excitement through its innovative representation of meaning. This project focuses on the manipulation and arrangement (composition) of typography and image as it conveys messages through a poster series.
Approach
This poster follows an angular composition. Hwang is holding his most notable instrument; his sound is emphasized by the text radiating from the instruments. The variations in typeface, font, and size are meant to encapsulate the ever-changing, sporadic nature of jazz.
Results
We’re all told to make a name for ourselves in this world, this poster reflects that idea by having Hwang literally made from his name. Made with paper and digital elements, this poster is designed to comment on how Hwang literally built a legacy for himself.
