This well attended Gardener's Market has grown by leaps and bounds and is now a very well established event with over 200 vendors and continues from early May to mid- October, dates mirroring approximate last and first frost dates. Because of a limited Northern growing season, the crown jewel of most local gardens, is the tomato. It is also a point of pride with many vendors to see how many locally grown heirloom and unique varieties they can offer. Hence people come from long distances to peruse and buy these rare tomatoes for the short time they are available.
I chose to highlight in this poster not only an abundance of tomatoes grown on an old fashioned space saving trellis, but a second planting of peas, conveying how short the growing season is. I included mountains in the background to underscore the "grown locally" appellation of this particular Gardener's Market.
