Assignment
The assignment for this project was to introduce Barkskins as a historically based scripted series with a modern edge and the timeless themes of fear of the unknown, exploration and mystery. The key art needed to convey the emotional severity of the story with a striking iconic image that would carry an emotional impact.
Approach
We explored a range of imagery to convey a sense of wonder, fear and excitement. The use of the bloody handprint was a clean and clear way to present mystery and intrigue and the elevated stakes that the show is steeped in. The shape of the handprint also allowed us to incorporate elements of the environment in an organic way, offering a vehicle to give context to the story.
Results
The stripped back simplicity had a striking effect and created an iconic and easily memorable image to peak curiosity about the show. The art was well received and seemed to create excitement among potential audiences.
