For this project, we were asked to create stamps as if the US Postal service were our client. As an Oreo lover myself, I chose to create a series of stamps and an accompanying pane that celebrated the seasonal oreos that Oreo comes out with each year. I chose to celebrate oreos to showcase my love for illustration, playfulness and to capture the hearts of many Americans, as well as those around the world who may also come into contact with this stamp. As a little girl, I remember picking out stamps to put on envelopes to send in the mail for my mother, and I always loved looking at the different designs. In this project I wanted to capture the youthfulness in all of us, by creating stamps that mimic a classic; “milk’s favorite cookie”.

Personally, I know myself, as well as several others, who race to the shelves when a new “flavor” of Oreo comes out. I wanted to run with this and in doing so created stamps for each season, to showcase a story, but also to provide a bit of variety and “practicality” for the stamp user.

For the pane I chose to mimic the classic packaging Oreo uses as it is easily identifiable. Upon seeing this pane, I am confident potential buyers will recognize and fall in love with the stamps, as they are reminded of a cookie that is not only delicious, but also a reminder of their childhood and/or their favorite “dunking” partner.
