Each student selects a film of his/her choice to create a unique and appropriate title sequence. This assignment focuses on composition, typographic hierarchy, pacing and time and sequence of type and image.
Django Unchained is a film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino about a bloodthirsty slave in who is trying to save his wife from a Mississippi plantation. This film doesn’t have a title sequence, and as one of the best films in the 21st century it deserves one. Tarantino uses blood splatter on specific white objects to elude to the defiance of white supremacy, and by using this principal I wanted to create a title sequence that would follow this white on red pattern.
With the use of stereoscopic images and blood I was able to portray the setting as well as the atmosphere of the film, as well as subtlety hinting to the plot and what can be expected.
