The assignment was to create a corporate publication such as a catalog, magalog, or annual report. I saw an opportunity to put a spin of the traditional college viewbook and create something fresh and appropriate for the audience of prospective students, whereas most college viewbooks are intended for a student's family.
This university viewbook uses an original storytelling concept showcasing a student’s journey from freshman to graduate to working professional. Photography selection was a key component to illustrate the work’s storytelling nature which is represented further with a die-cut cover on Kraft paper that parallels a travel journal. The book starts off with a series of mission statement pages with diagonal die-cuts, which sets the stage for diagonal design elements throughout the book. Hand-written type is a consistent element throughout the book, further illustrating the concept of a travel journal. Other highlights include infographics throughout the book and a student self-discovery test.
The viewbook became a paramount piece in my portfolio and was used as a carry along during portfolio reviews and interviews. I have received incredible feedback on it.
