Most disasters lead to the loss of human lives. From an abstract point of view blood is spilled independently of the type of disaster being eg. a natural disaster or war. A pool of blood symbolizes always the destruction of lives. As the research to limit and deal with disasters take center stage in the occupation of the DRU the pool of blood obtains brackets to put it in the focus on the one side. The brackets on the other side limits the expansion of blood, i.e. the consequences of the disaster seems to be better manageable.
