This is a sign scheme intended for preschools with children up to two years old.
People want their children raised without fear of danger or injury. They want a place where children can gather. A world that places importance on its children... With this in mind, I considered a preschool building that always remains in memory through one's experience there. I decided to look into what sort of sign would allow people to experience this. How can I make something memorable that people can enjoy? It was then I decided that this sign would dismiss the adults and be for the children. They may be young, but a good quality design should reach through to children, leave a strong impression on them and even refine their sensitivity. With that in mind, I went to work.
Since the symbol tree already acted as a sign for the preschool, I proposed that a wall object for it be placed within the center of the preschool, creating a space for the tree and for children to play. The tree on the wall with its colorful and abstract form reproduces a dreamland. The tree has 5cm horizontal lines engraved in it, making it possible to know one's height just at a glimpse. Near the tree is a tunnel that connects to a downstairs space, giving the children a "hideaway" where they can enjoy the freedom of their imaginations. For al group signs, I made tote bag signs. I used canvas and cotton for the materials. For a young child, a bag is an item that makes them feel somewhat like an adult. The bags are placed so that the preschoolers can grab for and play with them. They can be easily removed from their hooks so that you can wash them when they get dirty. Finally, going into more detail for my approach, I took the real, planted tree, made it an illustration and created a wall design that changes it into an abstract symbol in order to represent a "Tunnel to Dreamland" that acts as a bridge from reality to a kingdom of dreams. It was my hope in creating this that this will become a preschool that these children will want to bring their own children to once they are adults themselves.
