Our assignment was to create a poster, ad, and social assets that would announce the opening of an expanded new home for Winter and friends, which would offer the public all new breathtaking underwater views from nine different windows. In addition, to playing up Winter, their famous movie star from Dolphin Tale, our client (Clearwater Marine Aquarium) also wanted us to touch on the fact that some exciting new dolphins would be joining Winter in this huge new habitat.
We wanted to emphasize the expansive nature of this new home in a fun, eye-catching way. And since they were still putting the finishing touches on this facility, as well as lacking photographs of some of the new dolphins that would be moving there, we decided to utilize a dynamic illustrative approach. Of course, we put Winter’s famous prosthetic tail in the forefront and pretty much said it all with the headline…Winter’s tale just got bigger. We also used bold three-dimensional style type to give our hero art a dramatic movie-poster-like feel.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s marketing team loved how, even though we were lacking photography of the new home and new friends, we were able to still bring this concept to life by utilizing a compelling illustrative approach. They liked how the hero art had a movie-style feel and ultimately used this imagery in all their advertising. This big, bold concept really stood out and captured people’s attention, making the opening of Winter’s expanded new home very successful.
