Briefing: Type Thursday is a global and diverse (now virtual) community of typeface enthusiasts. Began in 2014 with a mission to foster learning, their weekly events feature live critiques, bookended by time for networking by attendees. The brief aimed at publicizing their events, by designing weekly promotional posts for their Instagram page.
Concept: The project had a clear room for experimentation while staying within the brand guidelines of Type Thursday. To invoke enthusiasm among viewers, the illustrations were chosen to be funky and dynamic.
Result: As a volunteer for their Instagram handle, six posts were designed and published over a span of two months. This resulted in Type Thursday receiving the highest footfall ever - more than 250 attendees, for their virtual event in April 2020. The event also ended up creating a buzz among the Type-geeks not just in San Francisco, but around the world.
