Bechtel is one of the most respected global engineering, construction, and project management companies in the world, and a cornerstone of innovation in the industry. Since the company’s founding in 1898, Bechtel has completed more than 25,000 extraordinary projects in 160 countries on all seven continents. Bechtel commissioned visual communications firm, Nesnadny + Schwartz (N+S), to create its Annual Report. The firm’s role was to develop the conceptual and visual theme, create the overall design, and manage production from inception to delivery.

Bechtel is known the world over for designing and building complex projects that are literally world-changing. To communicate this year’s theme of “Engineering the Extraordinary” N+S designed a minimalist cover where the theme emerges out of an embossed quotation. The technique of highlighting key words within Bechtel employee quotations was used throughout the body of the publication along with infographic sidebars, both of which reinforced Bechtel’s ranking as a premier International engineering and construction company.

As a privately-held, family-owned company, Bechtel is not required to publish a financial statement. The 2016 Bechtel Report is the principal publication used by the company to communicate corporate goals and year-end accomplishments with employees, directors, customers, as well as various local, state, and national governmental agencies. To date the Bechtel Report has received favorable reviews and comments from both external and internal audiences based on the project’s easy-to-manage content blocks, design, and production quality.
