The goal of this project was to create a cover for a prototype magazine that includes banner (nameplate), imagery and coverlines.
The articles in ABOARD magazine provide an escape and the bi-monthly issues serve as inspirational travel guides for future getaways. To visually communicate the name “Aboard” I used subtraction to create a wave and life preserver. The type treatment for ABOARD is intended to rescue the reader from their everyday life. To reinforce the idea of waves I used a high contrast photo of a boat from above and scale contrast to emphasize the interaction between the boat and main coverline, and applied vector shapes to add movement to the piece.
The project was well received, exciting and bright with summer and vacation vibes.
