The articles in ABOARD magazine provide an escape and the bi-monthly issues serve as inspirational travel guides for future getaways. To visually communicate the name “Aboard” I used subtraction to create a wave and life preserver. The type treatment for ABOARD is intended to rescue the reader from their everyday life. To reinforce the idea of waves I used a high contrast photo of a boat from above and scale contrast to emphasize the interaction between the boat and main coverline, and applied vector shapes to add movement to the piece.
