The assignment was to develop a logo for a SLAUGHTERHOUSE, which is a Richmond, VA based creative collective of writers, designers, and art directors. They needed a mark that was flexible and representative of the creativity that the collective represents.

The approach was a long process of competitive review, concepting, and revising. The client was presented four initial concepts, narrowed them down to two, and ultimately we settled on and finalized this design. After several rounds it was nice that we landed on a design that worked perfectly for the collective’s needs.

The results were great. We developed a simple, memorable and timeless logomark that works well across all media and uses the figure/ground relationship creatively with butcher knives in the negative space.
