In today’s political climate, using satire to record and respond to the current state of affairs is an act of survival. This catalog accompanied the exhibition “Art As Witness: Political Graphics 2016 – 18” in fall 2018.
Approach
For the exhibition catalog, a newsprint style format was chosen to reflect the publications where one might find such work normally. It includes essays from Steve Brodner as well as quotes solicited by many of the included artists.
Results
The successful exhibition featured more than 200 satirical and politically charged illustrations, cartoons and animations from 53 artists, including Milton Glaser, Roz Chast and Art Spiegelman.
