The assignment was to create a series of four stamps based on a topic of our choice. The stamps had to represent a part of American history or society and were required to utilize type in an informative way.

For this project, I really wanted to focus on something small, similar to the medium. I brainstormed several ideas from state flowers and birds to art movements and notable American women, but I really enjoyed the notion of taking something seemingly dull and glossed over and making it stand out.

This stamp series reflects hundreds of sketches and hours in illustrator touching up outlines and opacities. This series takes the idea of something small and ineffectual and makes it the focal point. The Endangered American Insect stamp series shows the small beauty of everyday life while also, trying at least, to bring attention to the little things that make up our world.
