The focus of this assignment was to create a poster for the Xalapa book fair that will be taking place in Xalapa, Mexico in 2020.
Approach
After researching and studying the shapes and forms of various type faces I saw a visual similarity in the repetition of open books, and the letter "X". The final composition came to be a poster for an international book fair in Xalapa, Mexico. The "X" from Xalapa can be seen in the negative space of 4 symmetrical open books.
Results
The poster is colorful, and energetic, mirroring the city of Xalapa. The graphic form and repetition of the books also begins to take reference to a flower, which is what the city of Xalapa is known for.
