Going into the back half of Season 1, Adam Ruins Everything was truTV’s #2 most watched show and their top network priority. Feedback from season one was that people LOVED Adam so they wanted to showcase his personality and convey the show’s promise of delivering valuable information in a fun/interesting way.
Our goal with this creative was to present Adam as a credible source of information, while still highlighting the quirky, fun nature of the show. Knowing the campaign was going to be used in a Times Square station domination, we were also focused on artwork that could carry through to multiple executions while still maintaining a strong, cohesive, visual presence. The result was a series of 14 key images, each featuring Adam “ruining” something different, with a payoff that “ruined” aspects of Adam himself. The striking red background was used as a unifying element with strong visual presence.
The client was thrilled with the campaign, and the host, Adam Conover, reported receiving tons of positive feedback on the art specifically via Twitter.
