Ben Intonato is a surfer and the father of a severely autistic 12 year old boy named Rocco. Ben has been teaching his son to surf since he was 5 years old. He has made great strides over the course of hundreds of hours in the waves. I took this portrait to portray Ben's role in a documentary that I am directing about Rocco, Ben, and their family.

This portrait was taken using natural light at the very end of the day, just after sunset near the beach. I caught Ben just after he had finished a long surf session and was packing up to go home.

Still photographs can have a powerful place in film documentaries and I feel confident that this portrait will have much impact for my upcoming film "Rocco Up".
