Our assignment for LIMBO, a film about Omar— a young Syrian refugee who is forced to leave home to avoid being sent to war— was to bring a quirky, upbeat tone to an otherwise difficult, heartbreaking story. We wanted to create key art that depicted Omar’s journey with a fresh and hopeful perspective.
Approach
Using a graphic map technique, we depicted Omar’s journey to find happiness in a kitschy, lighthearted way that also reflected the film’s irreverent tone.
Results
The movie garnered critical accolades and provided an important perspective on the reality of refugee life. The client loved this presentation and Cold Open is still getting praise for the film’s final art.
