The assignment was to create a wine brand and a series of labels for that brand.
We decided to create a series of wine bottles exploring a narrative that many of us know all too well: how to navigate a broken heart. As the wine gets stronger in color and taste, the person traveling through the stages of heartbreak is also getting stronger. We used metaphors found in nature shown through the shape of a human heart for each of the four stages.
Our resulting brand statement is as follows: When we get our hearts broken, it’s not uncommon to turn to wine. Ritual Madness suggests that we might just be a little crazy to willingly fall in love and risk heartbreak time and time again. Each bottle details a stage of heartbreak, but ultimately reminds us that, in spite of the sadness, tears, and anger, we’ll make it out stronger in the end.
