Following monumental victories at the Supreme Court as well as state legislatures across the country, 2013 will be remembered as a historic year for same-sex marriage. Having played a significant role in those historic wins, HRC had an opportunity to feature a lot of their work in its 2013 annual report. Despite all the victories, they knew there was still so much more to do to achieve full equality for LGBT Americans. With that as their guiding concept, HRC partnered with Washington, DC design studio Kinetik Communications to create a report that reflected those two realities – our victories and our work ahead. Using an unconventional two-sided double book format, Kinetik designed an innovative report featuring stunning full color photographs from the Supreme Court and rallies across the country, compelling data visualizations showing what those victories meant to LGBT citizens and our now ubiquitous red marriage logo that became an internet phenomenon and allowed an unprecedented number of people to show their support for same-sex marriage and help make history.
