Kru Khmer is a new spa brand based in Cambodia. Their products, such as bath salt and bath tea, are sold in stores throughout the city called Shiem Reap, where it’s famous for Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s biggest tourism site. Kru Khmer means “memtor” (in herbs and medical related matters) in Cambodian / Khmer language.
Kru Khmer was created to produce the very first made-in-Cambodia spa lines that are natural and high-end, for many tourists coming to Cambodia. Surprisingly there are almost no original high-end gift ideas coming out of in Cambodia. Many good products are imported from Thailand and if there is a product of Cambodian origin, they lack in design trends. They use natural herbs and ingredients from Cambodia, they hire Cambodian people, especially homeless, refugees and women from poor villages, who are treated like slaves in their hometowns.
Kru Khmer will lead a revolution in Cambodia, where people still fight for human rights and struggle to live as ordinary human beings. In this country people are not used to working for living because they highly depend on free resources from NGO organizations, and this company strives to teach people how to fish for themselves, rather than just handing out the fish to them. They create jobs for the local Cambodian people who have never had chances to work, and they are taught how to work for living in fare-trade concept.
