Upon my research of Grand Rapids, I found that Anna Bissell was the first woman to ever become a CEO. I knew this was the perfect opportunity to bring a group of strong, powerful women in the form of a soccer team to the city. I decided on the name 'Sweep' because I wanted to pay homage to her company Bissell (who sells vacuums), while also playing to the fact a 'Sweeper' is a position in soccer, as well as the fact the city is built on rapids.
